Steam Cleaners

February 28th, 2009 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

My goodness, siblings she had never met, and here she was talking about steam cleaners…*LOL* They were sure to think she was some kind of loon! *LOL*…She escaped to the kitchen under the guise of getting more drinks….She took her time getting drinks, and then decided to postpone going back to the livingroom for just a few seconds longer, so she set about getting a serving plate out, and laying out some cookies on it.

She was taking a few deep breaths, trying to gather her courage to face the lion’s den again, when Brett came in the kitchen. A man that looked so much like her that it scared her, the difference was that he had kind and gentle eyes, filled with a desire to love people. Her eyes hadn’t held the same look in years and years.

Best Weight Loss Pill

February 28th, 2009 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

She wished that she could have decided what the best weight loss pill was, and started taking them a few weeks ago, she would have liked to have shed a few pounds, so that she looked her absolute best at this meeting, but then, nerves had diminished her appetite anyway. *sigh* When would it be over? Would this be a good meeting, or one that by the end she will wish had never happened?? Thoughts and fears assailed her, and almost brought her to her knees.

Dansko Shoes

February 27th, 2009 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Casual dress was about all she ever bothered with, finding it a huge waste of time to worry about dressing up. Still today she figured she better make some sort of an effort to dress up a little, so she put on her most favorite dress and her Dansko shoes. She was nervous, and she wasn’t one to get nervous about much of anything, but than again it wasn’t everyday that she met brothers and sisters that she had never met before, had never even known about previous to six months ago.

Spring Plungers

February 27th, 2009 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

The “spring plungers” as they were affectionately called around town were already plunging. They had made their runs to the hardware store and the local gardening centers and were plunging on into spring despite the weather’s notion of throwing some cold weather back into the mix of things. The “plungers” were determined that the winter was over, and they were ready to get on with planting their gardens, getting their mowers serviced in anticipation of mowing season, and putting out their spring decorations.

Why???

February 22nd, 2009 -- Posted in Family News | 1 Comment »

Why is it that the last entry I did was a mere 3 days ago, and yet it seems like weeks since I blogged?? I had a thought tonight (okay officially it’s morning because it’s 1am) to go around to all of my blogs and check the last time I had done any entries, and to update them all, because it had seemed like a really long time since I had done any entries, and I do try to keep them all fairly updated….My two blogs were just updated on the 18th…My third one is undergoing some renovations, so I didn’t go update it, but I will as soon as the renovations are done, and then everyone will have to pop over there and take a look.

Anyway, even though it’s only been a few days I thought I’d do acouple of work entries and then put in a nice personal entry. You can’t blog too much can you??

I have been overjoyed to be receiving some new readers over the last few days. I do not know where these people are coming from, or how they are finding my blog, but I am happy to welcome them to my blogs, and to bits and pieces of my life!

Dear Desi is sick. I let her outside to play day before yesterday, and she spent all day yesterday battling a stuffy nose and feeling icky. Tonight is a rough night indeed. She has gotten very little sleep, even though she went to bed early. Poor darling, I feel so bad for her!! Hopefully it will be better tomorrow!! Please pray for her!!

I have had the most aweful headache all day today. It’s finally backed off now, after entirely too much IB Profen, Darvocet, a hot shower, Deep Heat, and lots of caffiene!! I am sooooo tired of constantly battling headaches!! I think part of my problem is that I need a special pillow to support my neck in just the right way, and I’m going to look into finding one. I’ve tried just about every pillow that Walmart carries, as well as one of those memory foam pillows (I can’t remember what brand it is though)…I think a memory foam is something like what I need, but made in a different way…who knows…I wish I did. How do you buy a pillow and KNOW that it is what will work for you??

Well that’s about all for tonight I think. Hope you all enjoyed this update!

Outer Bank Rentals

February 22nd, 2009 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Outer Banks rentals were not the upscale development that you would imagine from the name. There were actually very few rentals, and they were nestled in amongst the other residents of Outer Bank. It was a quiet community, and by saying community, it was in the literal sense. Everyone knew everyone, everyone looked out for everyone else. If you were sick, many people dropped by to make sure you had firewood in the house, brought you meals, and saw to it that your mail made it into the house. If your vehicle broke down, there would be two or three people that would come by to look at it, and see what they could do to help get you back on the road, and should it be something major, well, there were plenty of people that would offer you a ride, or loan you their vehicle. That was the way they liked their town, that is the way every town should be.

Replica Watches

February 22nd, 2009 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Wow, if this is the height of trying to look more than you are. Following the trend of “look-alike” Gucci, Armani, and other top name clothing and accessories, now we have replica watches. Yep you can get a look-alike Rolex, or any of those other top name watches. Keep in miind, it’s NOT the real thing, just something to LOOK like the real thing!

I don’t understand this!!! Why is it sooooooo important to people to spend, or look like they spend, hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars on a watch, or an outfit!! To me it’s plain silliness!! Give me a watch that works, no matter that it’s the cheapest thing on the shelf and I’m happy….OH WAIT…I don’t even wear a watch!! *LOL* Okay, lets rephrase that to give me the cheapest pair of jeans on the rack that fit comfortably and I’m happy!!

Weight Loss Products

February 18th, 2009 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Everything from special food, to “shakes”, to pills, there is an abundance of weight loss products, but how does a person know which one is best for them? I’m no expert on the subject as I’ve never used any of them, but I’m curious to know.

With products like Slim Fast, you are supposed to drink 2 of their shakes, and then eat a sensible dinner..what is a sensible dinner?

One A Day has put out a Weight Smart multivitamin, does this help you lose weight with natural vitamins, or is this just a way to make someone think they are doing something about their weight, but really has no effect.

As my weight continues to rise I am becoming more and more curious about these weight loss products. I continue to exercise, to no avail apparently, as I am gaining weight instead of losing. There isn’t a single day in the past week that I have walked LESS than 1 mile, and yet I am at least 5 pounds HEAVIER than I was a few weeks ago when I weighed myself. It is quite depressing if you must know.

Good News

February 12th, 2009 -- Posted in Family News | 1 Comment »

Well I finally, after anxiously waiting, received my final grade for my transcriptioning course. I PASSED!!!!!! I’m so happy!!! It seems like it’s been years in coming, but really it’s only taken me about 10 months to finish. Now to get my resume out, and get a job AT HOME!!! I’ll keep you all updated. Please pray.

Some other good news is that my dear friend Miss Jocelyn over at APH has agreed to make a new theme for my Winter Lilies blog!! I have been wanting to get customized themes for quite awhile, but the one I have over there is really annoying me, because of they way they have the spacing set up for my entries. That problem is what really pushed me to get a new theme now, instead of waiting for awhile. Miss Jocelyn is such a sweet young lady, and so very talented with her themes. You can view the themes she has created, as well as buttons and banners if you hop over to APH.

Something else that really is so awesome about Miss Jocelyn is that half of the money she makes through her business is donated to Gleaning The Harvest, which is a ministry set up to help single Mom’s. I myself am a part of that ministry, so pop over to the website and find out what it is that you can do to help myself or other single Mom’s. Here are the links so that you can learn more about these precious families.

and me

Miss Vicki and Her Daughters

Well, I guess that’s about all for tonight. I’ll let you all know when Miss Jocelyn gets my theme done, so you can all go check out her handiwork. It’s going to be awesome, I just know it!!

DON’T FORGET TO STOP BY GLEANING THE HARVEST!!!!!

Pizza Project

February 4th, 2009 -- Posted in Family News | 2 Comments »

Tonight we had pizza for dinner. We even made the crust ourselves. It was Meg’s night to help me cook (which is part of a new system we are trying out), and we had a great time! She loved getting her hands in the dough, and had a great time spreading out the pepperoni and cheese! Basically it was Meg that cooked, and I just assisted with some of the more difficult things, like taking it out of the oven! It turned out pretty good, and Meg had lots of fun!

I am also trying to plan menus, but am finding that kind of difficult, because without a car there isn’t a set day that I can say we are going to the store, because it all depends on when my sister can come and take us. But we are trying, and plan to do it more extensively when I get my own vehicle again.

I am also taking part in Angelfood Ministries as well. I had heard of it before, but they weren’t in our area. Since that time they have moved to a church here in town, so it will be easy for me to go pick up the food. They have some exceptional deals on their food boxes, and I think it will also give me a base of menu items too…I already know what I am getting, so I just make menu plan around that stuff, add in other meals to fill in, and boom, it’s done! I’m also excited about trying some new foods and recipes. Like this month Angelfood is giving sweet potatoes…so I have been asking my friends about some recipes like baked sweet potatoes, or mashed sweet potatoes…etc. It will give us new foods to try, and hopefully more recipes that we like!!

Well, I better move on to my other work. Hugs and Blessings to you all!!
