New York Moving Company

August 28th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

The New York Moving Company had arrived awhile ago, and was busily hauling things into the small apartment that she now called home. Her basic instructions had been to put everything in the livingroom, except the larger furniture, and that way she could sort through and find a place for everything. Moving to New York had been her dream for a long time, but she did feel the pangs of homesickness.

Acne

August 28th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | 2 Comments »

Thankfully I never had much of a problem with acne, maybe it’s because of the smattering of Native American blood running through my veins, or maybe it’s simply because I was blessed with good skin. I’m one of those people, or so I’ve been told, that don’t need to wear makeup, because of my natural coloring, but than, that never really mattered to me anyway, since I never bother to wear it anyway. Too much trouble, too time consuming to bother putting on makeup, and making sure it gets washed off at night. I guess I can only hope that what people said was true, and that I’m pretty enough without it.

Happy Birthday Jacque!!!!!!!!!!!

August 28th, 2008 -- Posted in Family News | 3 Comments »

Today is my friend’s birthday. So first I want for me and the girls to sing a boisterous round of Happy Birthday to her, which of course the girls do with their whole hearts, but I more or less lip-sink, because I don’t like singing around other people. *LOL*

Next, I would like to say what a wonderful family the Dixon’s are!!! I met Jacque not so very long ago, and was in awe of the fact that she had 8 children, and hadn’t been admitted to a nut house!! *LOL* That was during a period when I was having problems in my own life as a parent, and me with just two girls. I was barely surviving parenthood, and here she was with 8…I have always loved my girls with my whole heart, but it was through my growing friendship with Jacque, and her ever wise councel that led me to see what a joy and a gift I had been given when God sent me my little ones.

Over the last year my life has changed dramatically….my girls have changed as well. I owe that to the Grace of God, and Jacque, because it has been she that has advised me, led me, and spent her ever valuable time talking with me and sharing her wisdom, her thoughts, her faith, and her love!!! I could never thank her enough!!!

Whenever I am feeling down, stressed, disappointed, or just ready to throw in the towel, Jacque always seems to be there, and even if we don’t talk about whatever my problem is at the time, talking to her just about general chitchat never fails to lift my spirits. I thank God daily for leading me to such friends as Jacque is!!!

The whole Dixon family has me in amazement!! So selfless, giving, caring, encouraging, loving….a true reflection of what God must be like.

Jacque, I am blessed to call you friend!!! I can honestly say that I’ve never had a friend like you. I can’t wait for the day when we can meet!!! I hope that you have the happiest birthday ever, and that God blesses you with many more to come!! Have a great day, and know that your Kansas family is thinking of you, and wishing we could be there to celebrate this day with you!!!

Oh, and on a side note, I need some of your wisdom and advice on children lying, and what to do about it, how to combat it, but that will wait for another day!!

Love you!!!!!

Body Jewelry

August 23rd, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

I seem to be having several of the “what are” posts tonight. I guess it’s because I just don’t understand terminology these days. What is body jewelry?? Are we talking earrings, nose rings, and belly button rings?? Or is body jewelry necklaces, bracelets, rings, and that type stuff?? Why can’t people just say what they mean, instead of putting fancy words into play??

When I was a kid, flip flops were called thongs, manure rakes were pitch forks, and capri pants were knicker bockers….Why do the names of things have to change?? I guess for fashion sake. I mean who would want to admitt that they are just crazy over a style that went “out” decades ago.

Condo Hotel

August 23rd, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Care to tell me what a condo hotel is?? I’ve always had the impression that condos are basically apartments, although I would say bigger than most run of the mill apartments. And I know what hotels are….but what is a condo hotel?? A bunch of large apartments that you can rent for a few days or weeks?? But why not just get a hotel suite?? Is not a hotel suite an apartment, with all the comforts of home??

Unlocked Cell Phones

August 23rd, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

I often wonder what the point of a locked cell phone is. To me, it’s like you are trying to hide something from someone. A number or a name of a person that you know that it’s wrong to have. And if you lock it, for the reason of children playing with your phone, well, I don’t think phones are toys, and children have no business playing with the phone, and should be taught better. Though at times I realize that even after the best teaching, children sometimes do things that they know they shouldn’t. But still, I think unlocked cell phones are the way it should be.

CAT5e

August 23rd, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Sitting down at the computer, to continue her work, she opened up the file CAT5e, and set to work. Hours later she roused herself from her work and went into the kitchen to make herself dinner. She loved working from her home…didn’t know if she could survive the working world beyond her home. All the pressures, and coworker drama, and having bosses hanging over her shoulder…Nope, she much preferred the quite tranquillity of her home office.

Sorry Folks

August 15th, 2008 -- Posted in Family News | No Comments »

I know I’m long overdue for a personal entry!! In any case, things around here have been crazy busy, and it doesn’t really look like it will be getting any less busy either, especially with school in full swing.

Girls got signed up to play soccer. I figured I would let them try it, and see if they like it. It turned out to be a pretty expensive thing, but I’ll find the money somewhere, I always do. Anyway, we should know in about a week when their practices will be and such.

Geez, I really don’t know what to talk about. Don’t really have a lot on my mind.

The girls are doing well, as always. They are excited to start school, though we never really stopped. They are doing their chores exceptionally well, without a lot of hassle from me, when we are not so busy that the chores get moved down the priority list that is.

Desi’s birthday is coming up soon. It’s hard to believe that my baby girl will be 9. She is such a bright funny girl. Tries so hard to be a grown up sometimes, but than acts like a little kid again. She is deffinitely coming into herself, if you know what I mean. She has her own thoughts and opinions on things, and isn’t afraid to speak her mind, though that does get her in trouble sometimes, as she doesn’t always have the nicest attitude when speaking. Well anyway, I’ll save this for my birthday post that I hope to do, closer to her birthday.

Well, guess that’s about all for now. I hope for the girls to start their blogging again. I figure it will be good experience for them with the new school year, so keep a lookout for their posts!! They love comments, probably more (just slightly) than I do!!

Blessings!!

natural skin care products

August 15th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

I’m always in favor of natural anything, basically, providing that it works for what I need. natural skin care products are a big favorite in my book as well. Why would we want to use unnatural things on our body? In any case, this year I was on the lookout for some sort of anti-itch medicine for when the kids and I get bug bites. I found this great cream that is put out by Aveeno. I really can’t say how “natural” it is, but it’s a lot better than a lot of them, and it really does make the itch go away!! They also have a oatmeal powder that you put in your bath that also helps with itching…The girls said that it worked great…That one I can say is natural, because when you read the box, the only ingrediant is oatmeal!!

Baby Clothes

August 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Went to Sears today and saw the cutest baby clothes, not that I have any need for baby clothes, but that doesn’t keep me from looking!! *sigh* I wish I needed baby clothes!!! I wish I had more children, not that I don’t love the two I’ve got, it’s just that I want more!!! A friend says that God put it in women’s hearts to have babies, and I think that’s probably true, which is why I’m feeling kind of stuck!! I want more kids, but don’t have the means of getting them. I pray that the Lord grants me more children!!!
