Finals

July 25th, 2008 -- Posted in Family News | 1 Comment »

Okay, everybody send up prayers thanking God!!! I passed my final exam for medical terminology!!! I could have done better on the test, but am just thankful that I passed, and am now onto the transcriptioning part of my college course!! I have finished the first 2 or 18 chapters, so have a good start, as long as I can keep up the momentum all will be well. Please join me in praying that I do well with this course as well. It seems the weight of my life rests on this course, as it will be my way to be able to stay home with my girls, and still be able to pay bills and such!!! My trust is in God, that this is something that HE wanted me to do, and so I am confident that HE will see me through to the end, but a few extra prayers never hurt either…*LOL*

All else is going well. Although I am having an issue with the girls not wanting to do anything around the house, unless I specifically tell them to, and basically watch them do it as well. I’m not talking about big things here, they have even stopped picking up their room, unless I tell them to. It is frustrating for me, but I am confident they will get back on course.

I also wonder….well okay, I wonder many things…but right now I am wondering if I am doing right by them, letting them stay up late and all….Really I see no problem with it, but it seems as if everyone around me is always harping about how they should be going to bed at a normal (9pm or so) time, and I have to admitt that when we have things going on in the morning, it is difficult to get them to go to bed, so they will be rested for whatever it is going on. but things going on in the morning doesn’t happen much around here….I’ve never been a morning person, as you can tell because it’s 2am here, and I’m sitting here blogging, and actually have acouple of other things to do before I go to bed. I’ve never minded the girls staying up late with me…some of our most cherished memories are during these late nights…But is right?? I’ve never let other’s opinions sway the way I parent, based solely on that…I weigh and consider what they say, and than decide if I like the idea or not, but am I wrong in this?? Should they be going to bed at 9pm and up at a certain time…have set hours for school…and God help me, have set mealtimes?? Would this really benefit them?? I don’t know…I’m confused on this, lost as to what is the right thing to do!!! Any opinions would be welcome!!!

Well anyway, I guess I’ll get off here and do a few things around the house, maybe study awhile, and with any luck, be sleepy sometime before daylight…I have to admitt that hasn’t been the case lately…I went to bed at 6am yesturday, and it was 8:30am the morning before….I don’t know why it’s been so difficult for me to get back into a routine of going to bed at a more normal hour (you know, like 2am or something…*LOL*)…Anyway, love and hugs to my friends and family!!! I welcome any comments you have to share!!!

Moving Services

July 25th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

I don’t know what it would be like to use any moving services. In all the times that my family moved, the most that ever occurred is the use of a Uhaul, other than that, we did all the packing, loading, traveling to our new destination, unloading and unpacking ourselves. We all became quite skilled at it. I was a champion book packer by the time I was 5 or so. Yes, we had restless tendencies, and really I haven’t changed in that respect. I have moved many times in my adult life, and invision a few more moves as well. I dream of owning my own house, putting down roots and all that, but than I wonder if I would ever be content to stay in one place.

Truck Accident Lawyer

July 25th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Where did one find a truck accident lawyer she wondered to herself. It was a passing thought, as she walked from the hospital cafe back to the elevators so that she could return to her father’s room. Recovery was slow, but at least he was out of danger, and on the mend. She breathed as calmly thinking of when she got the call from the highway patrol, saying that her father had been in an accident. She had been so scared. Her father had been the only one in her life for as far back as she could remember, and she couldn’t bear the thought of losing him.

Home Theater Seating

July 25th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Walking into the livingroom was somewhat like walking into a theater….Her Dad was a big electronics nut, so had a home theater system. You know, the huge tv, surround sound speakers, basically every imaginable electronic gadget, but it wasn’t a cold room. The home theater seating was very carefully picked for it’s warmth of colors and comfortableness. This room held some of her fondest memories. Sitting on her father’s lap, listening as he read her a story, sitting beside her mother watching her stitch the very intricate needlework that she did.

Life Goes On

July 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Family News | No Comments »

Life has seemed to go on, without much involvement from me. I have been busy studying, and hope to take my final exam for medical terminology this next week. Cross your fingers, and send a few prayers heavenward for me please!!

Girls have been doing well on their schoolwork as well. Lots of reading that we were missing out on when I was working all the time. Des is having a great time not only reading her schoolbooks, but reading many other books. Her favorite right now is Boxcar Children #1. Meg’s reading has come a long way as well!! Writing nicely is still a challenge for Meg, as she mixes capitol letters with lowercase, and sizing is still an issue. Des is doing okay, as long she is paying attention. Math is going well!! It’s not all textbook stuff though…We played monopoly the other night and had a great time!! Where is math in monopoly?? Monopoly is full of math…you add the spots on the dice, you count the spaces you move, you use money to buy your cottages and castles (we have the Disney version), you use your money to pay the rent and such….It all went well. I will warn you though, it does make for a longer game when you are taking time to let the little ones do the counting and adding….but it’s great, that’s real quality time.

My cousin came down yesterday!! I haven’t seen her in over a year. A few years ago, okay, so it’s probably been more than a few, but anyway, she and I were as close as sisters….and you know, it’s still pretty much the same!! She’s great!!! So grown up and responsible…it’s kind of hard to imagine…I still see her as a young girl, a preteen….We had so much fun!! We played baseball and soccer with the girls, went out to eat, and chatted….I think the chatting is what I miss most. We, years ago, growing up, would take LONG, and I’m talking LONG walks and just talk about EVERYTHING….It was much the same yesterday, without the walking part (too hot outside). We have plans again in acouple of weeks. I’m so excited!!!

*yawns* I’m tired….I haven’t slept much the past week. I can’t count how many nights I was up all night, or how much sleep I’ve had in the last week. I thought when I quit working that I would actually be able to have a normal sleep pattern…*LOL* I should have known better!! I’ve always been a nightowl, staying up until 2 or 3am before I was even a teenager…And it’s not that I haven’t tried…there have been nights that I’ve went to bed at 10 or 11p, and I spend the night tossing and turning….So this past week I spent many of my sleepless nights cleaning house and such. Not that my house shows it…*LOL*

It still amazes me that we can clean the house one day, and by the next it doesn’t even seem to show it. We’ll have laundry and dishes piled up again, and these carpets are pretty rotten, so it always looks like I need to vacuum. In any case, we do try!

Well anyway, I finally got a personal entry in here….Now I think it’s time to make a sandwhich (yep I’m eating dinner at 11p), and get back to studying. *hugs* to all my friends, and know that even though I haven’t made the blog rounds, I still am thinking of you, and miss you dearly!!!

Travel Health Insurance

July 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | 1 Comment »

It seems that they have insurance for everything…life insurance, health insurance, flood insurance, renter’s insurance, home owners insurance, and even travel health insurance. I’m not saying that all of these kinds of insurance are a bad thing, but yet I wonder how people like me are supposed to afford it all. I’m doing good to afford life insurance, to help the girls should anything happen to me, and of course I have car insurance, but there is no way I could afford renter’s insurance and all that other stuff.

Crib Bedding

July 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

I have a friend, well okay, I don’t know her that well, so we will call her an aquaintance, in any case she is due to have twins in January. We haven’t talked a lot about what theme she will do for the babies, if any. I never really had a theme for my girls, but than money was an issue too. She is having a baby shower in November and I was thinking about making a couple of afghans for her babies. However, I’m kind of afraid too, because I want to do something nice for her, and I don’t know how to crochet any of the fancy things…If I had money though, I wouldn’t mind buying some crib bedding though, because as far as I’m concerned you can never have too many crib sheets and blankets! We’ll just have to wait and see though.

Vessel Sinks

July 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

By now you would think I would learn to just give up on keeping up with all the different kinds of “things” nowadays. However when I came to a link that said vessel sinks, I hadn’t a clue what they were talking about, so just had to, of course go check it out…Now I had heard of stainless steel sinks, porcelein sinks and like….Round sinks, oval sinks, square sinks…but never “vessel” sinks…Apparently vessel sinks are made of stone, which I have to admit is pretty neat!!

Orovo Detox

July 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Working at the Orovo detox center was one of the most rewarding jobs she had ever had, but it was time for a break. She had put her life into the center…day and night, weekends and holidays for over 2 years…Now, she was busily packing for her first vacation in that time. She was on her way to the mountains of Wyoming for some camping, fishing, and peace and quiet with only her, the animals, and God for company. It was an exciting time.

Refrigerators

July 9th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | 1 Comment »

Okay, well I never thought I was really particular about my refrigerators, but I am finding that I am more and more particular, and find that I am seriously wanting a new fridge. Mine won’t even keep ice cream frozen solid in the freezer, and yet things in the refrigerator part tend to freeze…*shakes head* Very agrivating indeed!!! Not to mention the doors….oh, don’t get me started about how you have to firmly PUSH the doors shut, or else they don’t shut all the way, and you end up with a warm fridge.
