It’s 2:30a

June 30th, 2008 -- Posted in Family News | 2 Comments »

So much I should be doing….studying…almost done with another chapter…by almost, I mean it will be another 2 -3 hours of work probably, before I get it completely done, and the quiz taken. I think that will wait for tomorrow, or should I say later today…*LOL*

Just paid most of my bills, or at least wrote out the checks….I’m stressing about money again/still. I so don’t want to have to go back to work!!!! Little things are eating up my well planned out money though!!! Haven’t found out anything about financial aid for my schooling yet. Hopefully a phone call later today will put me on the right track! God please, a little help here!!!

Meg broke both pairs of her glasses, so that means a trip to KC this week. More unplanned money going out. Not for the glasses, because I get free replacement on them, but for gas, and probably lunch, as it is quite a trip up there. And another trip up there in a week or two to pick up the glasses, and get them fitted.

I have computer work to do….laundry to fold, dishes that need done…and here I sit….I would say that I shouldn’t be here…but a dear friend once told me something to the effect that I am where I should be. *sigh* If I only felt that that was true!!! Sometimes I feel so lost, so lonely…Seems like everyone is so busy with their lives, that they don’t have time to talk with me, or come visit me. I know I can always go out to my sister’s place, but that’s not where I want to be right now….It’s hard to explain, we aren’t fighting or anything, getting a long fine…it just doesn’t “feel” right to be there….I want to hibernate in my home, and yet I want to talk to someone….I don’t want to be here….and yet I don’t want to leave here either….God, a little help here would be nice too!!!

I really have no idea what else to talk about, so I guess I’ll sign off for the night/day/whatever.

Huge Goings Ons!!!

Wow, I know it’s been forever since I did a personal entry, but here I am, at 4:15a, writing this entry in between getting some computer work done. Work that should have been done days ago, but I’ve been swamped these last few days, apparently too swamped, but I’ll get to that later on, if I remember.

Not working has been Heaven on earth!! I worry about the money running out, but with God’s help, we’ll make it through okay. I’m going to do some checking on financial aid for my schooling. Not the kind that goes to the school, but the kind that you, yourself get…that would pretty well insure that I would not have to go back to work until I get done with my college courses!! Keep your fingers crossed and prayers sent Heavenward for me please!!

I am doing well, although behind where I wanted to be at this time of the month, but such is life, and I haven’t exactly been sitting around doing nothing….*LOL* I have about 10 more chapters in my medical terminology, if I’ve got it figured right. After that comes the transcriptioning course, which is the one I’m concerned about. But than, I worry overly much about most things, so all should be well!!!

This past weekend the girls and I were ready for a visit from our dear friends, the Dixon’s….but alas, it didn’t happen. Sickness struck their family, so they thought it best to head home, without the visit up this way. I was saddened, but I understand also. No one wants to travel with sick kids. I keep telling myself there will be another time, and yet, I’m kind of just stuck with the disappointment right now!!! Dixon’s don’t think for a moment that I am upset with you!!! Just sad that you couldn’t make it is all!!!! In any case, I know at some point they will travel my way again, or with any luck, and some help from God, the girls and I can travel up that way someday soon!!

The girls start swimming lessons tomorrow, well, I guess I should say later today…*LOL*…They are excited!! The classes are for two weeks, which makes me wonder how much they will learn, how well they will be able to swim at the end of these lessons. I guess it doesn’t really matter though, because anything they learn will be better than what I can teach them. I never had lessons either, and what little I can swim, I taught myself…I’m actually kind of hoping that by watching what the girls learn, I can become a better swimmer.

I guess the biggest thing that happened around here, since my last personal entry, is the fact that the girls and I have talked and seen their biological Father, and his family. I have to say that I have been very leary about this meeting, as he wasn’t a good father in the beginning, but then it has been almost 7 years since I had seen or talked to any of them. We are taking it one step at a time, with me being well aware of the risks involved!! You can read more about it over at my Overlooked Orchids Blog. Pray that this continues to go well for all of us!!

Well, I guess I’ve rambled enough for tonight/this morning. *hugs* to all my friends!!

Golf Shoes

June 23rd, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

I’m not much of a sports buff at all, anyone who knows me even a little will know that. However there are certain sports that just illude my understanding, like golf. Tell me, what is the point of dressing up in dorky looking clothing, and wearing funny golf shoes, and batting a ball around a big pasture that has holes in it?? I don’t understand the scoring involved with golf either…It just makes no sense to me at all!!

Laptop Rentals

June 23rd, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

It wasn’t so many years ago that having a home computer was unheard of, much like having a cell phone was a rarity. Now, it seems as if you are odd if you don’t have a cell phone and a laptop. And those that do not have their own laptop, often make use of laptop rentals. I can see why though. I mean after all, who doesn’t like the convienence of being able to do their work anywhere?? I know I sure enjoy my laptop!!

Franchise

June 23rd, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

The paperwork involved with owning, and running a franchise was unbelievable! Made more unbelievable by the fact that she did it as a single mother, but such was life. This was her way of making a living for her babies, and she would stop at nothing to see that they had a good life!! Time with her children suffered at times, but they understood that sometimes she had no choice but to go in and work…and she did her best with the time that she did have with her children.

Baby Shower Invitations

June 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Oh man oh man, she wasn’t going to get those baby shower invitations sent out in time if she didn’t hustle!! It’s just that she had soooooo much to do right now. With school, her job, family stuff, and trying to get this baby shower organized, she was feeling more than just a little overwelmed!!

“Okay, done with work” she thought as she shut down her computer. She grabbed the boxes of invitations that she had sitting by the door, and hurried out the door.

Laptop

I can not tell you how invaluable my laptop has been. Really, before I couldn’t really see that I would want one. Oh, here and there I thought it might be nice, but not enough to make me think about getting one. Now that I have one, wow, that thing goes most everywhere with me!! It’s really cool to take the girls to the library for some thing they are doing there, and be able to sit down with my laptop and do just about anything, even my online stuff, thanks to the wireless internet at the library. It’s also really cool to take it out to my sister’s (or anywhere else I go) and be able to use it for my studying. I can even play a game in my bedroom, all thanks to my laptop. Maybe one of these days I’ll be lucky enough to have wireless internet in my home. *LOL*

Home Insurance

June 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

As the smoke cleared, she couldn’t think, or feel. She was in shock. There was so much she would need to do, number one on her list would be to take her parents back to her house, and number two would be to get a hold of the home insurance company and get them started on this mess….but she just stood there, with the acrid smell of the fire choking her, as her childhood memories of this house flashed through her head…It was all gone now…

Ahh, billiards, a game of the ages..A game that has been around for centuries! Sometime during the 15th Century, Northern Europeans moved the then lawn game, similar to croquet, indoors; the playing field became a rimmed table with a green, “grassy” surface, and balls were pushed, rather than hit, across the field. The cue itself, was developed sometime during the late 1600’s..

Historians believe billiards crossed the Atlantic to the American Colonies with Dutch and English settlers, but America’s love for the game is attributed to Irishman Michael Phelan, “the father of American billiards.” Phelan wrote the first book on the game in 1850 and is credited with devising many of the rules and table designs we use today.

Early American pool games were played with four balls; after 1870, three-ball and 15-ball games saw some popularity. Eight-ball and nine-ball billiards, as well as straight pool, all developed before 1920.

An interesting game to say the least. My preference is 8-ball, but than, I’ve never learned the rules for any of the others. I’m not that good anyway, considering I only play a game or two every few years.

At http://www.borderbilliards.com, you can find just about anything and everything I would imagine that you would need for billiards. And I don’t know much about the going rate of these things, but their prices didn’t seem out of line. There were some brands I even recognized, so that is always a plus, at least for me!!

Hotels In Las Vegas

June 14th, 2008 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Having lived in Las Vegas, I can say without a doubt, that I would never want to live there again. The hotels in las vegas are pretty incredible, but other than that, well, I found the city to be dirty, dangerous, rude, and way too crowded for my liking!!

The cost of living is outrageous!! I realize this is true of most or all places these days, but it’s even more so in Vegas, simply because it is Vegas. I never thought it was where I would stay for a long time, never thought I would want my children raised.
