Subway Encounter

December 1st, 2007 -- Posted in Family News | No Comments »

Today after getting pictures done, and shopping at Walmart, the girls and I stopped at the Subway inside Walmart to eat…It had been a pretty decent day for us, not a lot of arguing, or not listening…I had been pretty calm even when they were starting to act up…

So anyway, there we are, in line at Subway, the girls order their own sandwhiches, with me supervising, all was going along well…Meg and I both had our sandwhiches done, and I turn around to ask Des what she wants for veggies on her sandwhich, except she’s not there…She’s over at the chips…I called her back, and told her that I had not even said that we were getting chips, and that she should ask instead of assume…but that she should not just go wandering off without telling me where she is going…

When I got up to the area to pay, the person behind the counter was talking to me…Meg started talking to me, so I turned to her, and told her that she needed to be quiet when I was speaking to other people, and taking care of business…

So we go and sit down…Meg stays at the table, and Des and I go get our drinks…Well apparently Des’s lid was coming so she shifted her drink to try and fix the lid, and ended up spilling some on the floor….So I sent her to ask and look for napkins…She was in my sight the whole time, as was Meg when she was left at the table, in case anyone is wondering about that…

This lady, who had been sitting at a nearby table, comes over, puts napkins on the our table and says “The way you treat your children is an embarressment.”…She walked away and said nothing more, and soon left Subway.

I was stunned!!! I said nothing, I was in shock!!! I had not yelled at them, had not cussed, I thought I had been handling the long day very well!!

I spent the next 10 minutes wiping tears from my face. This woman, who does not even know me, was judging me and my parenting abilities…basically telling me that I am a bad mother….

Since that episode earlier tonight I have replayed the whole Subway trip a thousand times, and I, for the life of me, can’t figure out what I did wrong!!!

Was it when I told my daughter that she should not assume she is getting chips?? Maybe it was when I told her that she should not wander away from me?? Or perhaps it was when I told my other daughter that she should not interupt me when I am busy? OR MAYBE it was when I expected my 8 year old daughter to clean up a mess that she had made!!!

I don’t know what I did wrong!! I don’t know what I should be doing… I am trying not to let this comment, or that woman bother me, but it does…All the work I’ve been doing, to try and be a better mother, and not cuss, or yell at them, it all seems for nothing….You know??

When we were at Walmart today, I did a bit of shopping for my secret sister. Found acouple of different great items, as well as some great ideas for future packages.

I am very excited about being a SS, and I truly hope that I can bless and encourage my sister!! I am rather concerned about this, because I am always the one seeking encouragment!!! A few people here in blogland, have told me that I am great at encouraging them, and I hope that’s true!

Calif Felony Defense Lawyer

December 1st, 2007 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Stephen G. Rodriguez has devoted his entire legal career to representing people who have been arrested and charged with various crimes.

Many criminal defense attorneys (who were former prosecutors) brag about their experiences as former prosecutors convicting and imprisoning people for all sorts of crimes. He, on the hand has never been a prosecutor. He has always worked on the criminal defense side.

He attended Loyola Law School for the sole purpose of being a criminal defense lawyer. So if you are looking for a California felony lawyer, than I’d give Stephen G. Rodriguez & Associates a call, and see what he has to say about your case.

Pictures

December 1st, 2007 -- Posted in Family News | No Comments »

Went to Walmart today, and had pictures taken. I am so excited…They are supposed to be back around the 15th for pick-up.

This set of pictures is pretty special, because my sister and I both had pictures done today, and we bullied Dad into going too. He doesn’t like his picture being taken. In fact the last time I remember him being in a professional picture was before I was 10 years old…*LOL*

So anyway, he endured having his picture taken with each of the grandkids, one with me, and one with Bubble and I. *LOL* He’s all pictured out for another 20 years or so…

I’ll post some of the pictures when I get them back. I think they will all turn out very nicely!

Playing Hookie

Does staying under the warm sheets sound appealing to you this morning? Would you like to sleep in and then take the day off to get caught up with all the housework? After all, chores would get done a lot faster without four pairs of little hands to help.

I Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

As a homeschool mom, some days you just don’t feel like having school. Being super mom lost its novelty a long time ago and you would just like to have your house be cleaned, organized, and feeling like a “home” again instead of a cluttered schoolroom.

God calls us to obedience in all areas of our life, including homeschooling. As much as you want to check homeschooling off your list today, don’t. Your children’s future depends on your daily discipline of placing homeschooling as a priority. Dirt and clutter will always return, but not the opportunities to teach your children. God is waiting for you to get up and get going. Be steadfast and throw those covers off. “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” (Colossians 3:23)

***************************************************************************

I recieved this in an email earlier this week, and I read it, and than I re-read it. I think there is some truth to this, but on the other hand, I can’t say that I totally agree!!

We took this week off from bookwork schooling, not because the kids wanted to…in fact the girls were asking me if they could do their schoolwork, but because I just could not “deal” with it this week….With all the other things going on, and my lack of sleep, well, just didn’t make for a schooling enviroment. When I’m short on sleep, I have very little patience, and instead of trying to get school done, and getting frustrated with the girls because of silly things that really don’t matter, I felt it best to fore-go the week.

Don’t think for a moment that schooling isn’t a high priority for me, because it is!! It is probably in the top 3 and most deffinitely in the top 5 on my priority list. My childrens education is VERY important to me, but on the other hand, bookwork isn’t everything either!!

Human Touch

December 1st, 2007 -- Posted in Piggy Bank | No Comments »

Do you have back pain, or other muscle pain somewhere in your body?? Or maybe you just like to sit down to a relaxing massage? Have I got the thing for you!! Man, I’d like to have one of these myself!!!

Human Touch has added the HT 7450 Zero Gravity Massage Chair to their wide array of massage chairs and massage products. It’s said that the HT 7450 incorporates Human Touch’s unique massage technology, called the Quad Roller System, which includes four precise techniques that imitate those used by massage professionals: Percussion, Rolling, Compression, and Kneading. The experience combines the sensations of hands rapidly tapping on the back, gentle rolling, alternating strokes and relieving spinal pressure, and kneading to work out knots and ease soreness. I don’t know about all that, but if the hype is even remotely true, it sounds wonderful!! A piece of Heaven on Earth perhaps!!!

Each massage in the HT 7450 is perfectly focused on the right areas of the body. The speed, intensity, location, and technique can then be adjusted according to an individual’s preferences, or specialized programs can be used for particular types of relief or relaxation. Additional options include a soothing heat feature or a luxurious foot massage, all customized to the individual’s preference! Man, I would love a heated chair about now!!! It’s cold around here, so I’m not only cold but the arthritis in my knees is acting up really bad!! I also have arthritis in my ankles, elbows and wrists, but not near as bad as my knees.

It’s been said that Human Touch is the creator of the best products for foot massage and foot pain, and chairs for body massage for relaxation or sensual massage. It’s also said that Human Touch massagers are ideal for those who suffer from back pain, neck pain, spinal pain, poor circulation, arthritis, and diabetes-related foot problems such as neuropathy, skin problems, and foot ulcers.

They also have many other things besides their chairs, such as calf massagers, massage ottomans, and other accessories, which would all be ideal gifts for the stressed-out, over-worked, achy, and tired!

Busy Week

December 1st, 2007 -- Posted in Family News | No Comments »

I can’t even remember what we did this past weekend…Monday was Girl Scouts…Tuesday I can’t remember much, only that I didn’t get much sleep…

Wednesday I took the girls to a preformance of the African Children’s Choir. As well as running errands that morning…In any case, the African Choir was just really awesome!!!! I was so happy that I chose to take the girls!! They have never behaved so well as they did that night. The show/concert was almost 2 hours long, and they didn’ t hardly move the entire time, they were just so caught up in what was going on!! It was awesome!!!!

Thursday I had a staff meeting that was almost 2 hours long…From Sunday late morning, until now, I’ve had about 16 hours sleep total…I’m dragging, but still more stuff to get done tonight.
